Feature :
Peony King belongs to the highest grade of white peony (close to the picking standard of Baihao Yinzhen), usually made from tender shoots with one bud and one leaf, with fat buds, dense white hairs and tender leaves.
Compared with ordinary white peony, Peony King has a higher proportion of buds and smaller leaves, so the taste is closer to the freshness of Yinzhen, while also having the floral fragrance of white peony.
This Peony King was produced in Jinping Village, Zhenghe County in the spring of 2012. The raw materials are from Dabaihao. It is now 15 years old. The color of the dry tea gradually changes from gray-green to yellow-brown and dark brown, and the white hair changes from silver-white to golden.
The leaves are still intact, but the color is darker. The well-aged tea has no mold and no impurities.
I aged this Peony King myself, and I witnessed the evolution of its aroma. In the first 3-5 years: the floral aroma gradually fades, and the honey sweetness and fruity aroma (such as plum aroma) appear, and the aroma of the hair turns into a steady rice aroma. More than 5 years: the aroma of medicine (similar to the aroma of tangerine peel and old tree bark), jujube, and woody aroma gradually appear. The mellowness increases, the freshness decreases, the sweetness increases, and the soup feels as thick and smooth as honey water. The tea soup is fuller and melts in the mouth. It has the "aged charm" of old white tea, with a lasting sweetness and a deep throat charm.
